AIG UNITED GUARANTY ANNOUNCES ASSIGNMENTS
 
Domestic Residential Group Fills Key Roles in Structured Products and National/Regional Management

GREENSBORO, NC — AIG United Guaranty,1 whose affiliate companies provide mortgage guaranty insurance and other financial services to the mortgage industry, has filled several key management positions in its Domestic Residential Group.

Dan Walker, who joined the company in 1987, has been named senior vice president of structured products. The structured products group will be responsible for captive reinsurance, pool insurance, and negotiated transactions. Walker, who most recently was chief risk officer, played a significant role in developing the first captive reinsurance structure in the industry in 1993. He has served on various industry research committees, including those of MICA (Mortgage Insurance Companies of America) and ISO (Insurance Services Offices).

Walker holds a B.A. in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and he has appeared as guest author in a number of industry publications. He holds an Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) designation.

Chris Clement has been named senior vice president of national accounts. Clement’s 22 years of experience with AIG United Guaranty include assignments as vice president of contract underwriting, national accounts vice president, SVP for the Northeast field operations and SVP of the East field operations. In 1999, AIG United Guaranty awarded Clement one of its highest honors for sales professionals, the President’s Trophy.

Dan Slade, who joined AIG United Guaranty in 1997, has been promoted to senior vice president of field operations for the company’s East region. Slade has overall responsibility for sales, underwriting, emerging markets, and secondary marketing activities in the East region. He most recently was regional vice president of production for AIG United Guaranty’s East region.

Prior to joining AIG United Guaranty, Slade was president of Pine State Mortgage in Atlanta. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and past president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia.

Bryon Jones has been named vice president of bulk transactions, reporting to Dan Walker. Jones joined AIG United Guaranty’s structured products group in 1998 and has served as assistant vice president of capital markets and, most recently, vice president of national accounts.

Valerie Ausband has been named regional vice president of production for the East region, covering Georgia and Florida. Since joining the company as an Account Executive in 1998, Ausband has earned President’s Club recognition for her sales production three times and most recently held the position of vice president of national accounts. She will report to Dan Slade.

Rob Gaither has been named vice president of national accounts, responsible for a number of national accounts. Previously, he was vice president of marketing, product development, and production support. He will report to Chris Clement.

Before joining AIG United Guaranty in 2004, Gaither was senior vice president of secondary marketing for Wachovia Mortgage Corp. and, prior to that, held management and executive positions with other financial institutions, including 14 years with First Union Mortgage Corporation in Charlotte.
