AIG UNITED GUARANTY NAMES BARBARA STEIN VICE PRESIDENT
Stein to Oversee Mortgage Insurance Credit Risk
GREENSBORO, NC— AIG United Guaranty,1 whose subsidiary companies provide mortgage guaranty and education loan insurance, emerging markets support, and other financial products and services, has named Barbara Stein (formerly Barbara Lorenz) as vice president of credit risk management for its Domestic Residential Group.
According to Jason Bohrer, executive vice president and group executive for the Domestic Residential Group, “We are thrilled to have Barbara on board. With her extensive experience in the mortgage industry, she will provide valuable expertise in ensuring we remain a competitive partner of choice for our customers’ credit risk needs.”
Stein was most recently director and operations risk manager at GMAC RFC Mortgage Corporation. In 2006, she was awarded GMAC’s Pinnacle award for outstanding achievement. Previously, she built more than 20 years’ experience managing risk, underwriting, compliance, and client services within the mortgage insurance industry.
The mortgage insurance subsidiaries of AIG United Guaranty provide mortgage guaranty insurance service to financial institutions worldwide, helping to minimize reliance on government fiscal support through private-sector risk management. Mortgage insurance coverage on low-down-payment loans protects a lender against losses due to homeowner default. Home ownership studies show that loans with limited down payments have an increased likelihood of default, particularly in periods of severe or prolonged economic distress.
