Activations and Transfers
United Guaranty and Arch MI are now one company. You can continue to use your existing processes to submit and service loans with United Guaranty and Arch MI, and we will continue to provide the outstanding service you’ve come to expect. United Guaranty and Arch MI: Together Is Better.
You can activate PostPay certificates instantly using MI Guide. You'll need the certificate number and the loan closing date—and that's it!
If you need to activate multiple certificates at one time, we can set you up to use an EDI connection, which gives you the option to use a third-party vendor to submit your activations.
Monthly, Annual, Single, and Split-Premium Activations
To activate coverage, you'll need to send us the certificate number, closing date, and the initial premium payment. See our Billing Options page for more information.
To pay by check, please note the closing date. United Guaranty will promptly process the payment, and the insurance will be effective as of the loan closing date.
- For Monthly premium plans, only one month of the mortgage insurance premium must be collected at closing.
- For Annual premium plans, collect an entire year of the mortgage insurance premium at closing.
- For Single premium plans, collect the entire mortgage insurance premium for the life of the loan (full term).
To activate a commitment after its expiration date, please email UGC:servicing. You may be required to submit additional information for activation.
You can transfer a certificate any time after activation through MI Guide or an EDI connection.
Note: Depending on when you transfer the certificate and when you are billed, the previous servicer may owe a partial premium. If, after you receive your first bill, you notice additional premium due from the time the previous servicer held the certificate, please collect payment from that servicer to submit to United Guaranty to prevent your certificate from being canceled for non-payment.
